Vrboska
is situated in the central part of the northern coast of the island Hvar . It is
situated only 3 kilometres from Jelsa. This is a touristic place and a small
port founded in the 15th century and in which there live about 500 inhabitants
that are mostly engaged in tourism, viticulture, olive-growing and
fruit-growing. It is the ideal place for
peaceful family vacation without city rush and stress. You can find accommodation
in hotels, private aparments and rooms. National specialities and famous Hvar
vines present two more trumps of this place. Vrboska is also a peaceful port
for many yachtsmen. Among numerous cultural and historical sights we are going
to extract the St.Mary church that was built in the 15th century and the
St.Peter church which is the oldest in the place. The fishing museem keeps
numerous old fishing eqipment. We recommend hikers to visit Jelsa, Stari Grad,
the town Hvar, Zavala, Ivan Dolac, Milna, Brusje, Gdinj, Sucuraj and Zastrazisce.
Vrboska was formerly a fishing village
with a tradition, on which also the unique fishing museum shows.
Vrboska is now a tourist town which conquers with their originality,
beauty and tranquility of everyone? In the center was founded in 1580, the fortress church of St.
Mary. From the roof of the church there is a wide and magnificent view
of the surrounding area, which spreads out into the Meeresweite. The
parish church of Sv. Lovrijenac in the 16th Century was built, has
gained its current appearance in the Baroque period. In this church the
polyptych the painter Paolo Veronese is stored and a portrait of the
Madonna of Arija, which originated from the painter Leandro Bassana
