Jelsa
is situated in the central part of the island Hvar . In the place there live
1792 inhabitants who are mostly engaged in viticulture, olive growing, fishing,
ship building and, off course, tourism which has celebrated 130th anniversary
in this area. The oldest hotel here was built in 1911. From the rich cultural
and historical heritage we are going to extract the Church of the Extolment of
Mother Mary which was built in 1331, and St.John square which is one of the
most beautiful renaissance and baroque squares. The accommodation in Jelsa is
of top-quality so that you can choose between hotels, villas, private
apartments and rooms. You can have recreation in one of the sports sites. You
will have tennis playgrounds, mini-golf and water sports sites, as well as
football, handball and basketball playgrounds at your disposal. We recommend
excursions to neighbouring places such as Ivan Dolac, Pitve, vrboska, Zavala,
Zastrozisce, the
town Hvar and Stari Grad. Wonderful and gravel beaches have their charms too,
so many of you will find their place exactly there. Jelsa has a rich
gastronomic offer. In taverns and restaurants you can taste various national
meat and fish specialities and top-quality national vines. Wonderful beaches,
pine wood and the clear sea will make your visit to Jelsa ideal.
