The
town Hvar is placed on the south-western par of the island Hvar. There live
about 3500 inhabitants. Regional highway connects it to other places on the
island, and few times a day it is being connected to the continent, i.e. to
Split. This is the town of the extremely rich cultural and historical heritage.
Among numerous sights we are going to sort out only some of them that you have
to visit. The Croatian theatre was founded in 1612 and this is the oldest
theatre in Europe. The Franciscan monastery was founded in 1461, and in there
the valuable pictures of old masters have been kept. On the hill above the old
part of the town there is a citadel called Fortica that will leave you
breathless, not only because of its architecture and history, but also because
of the wonderful view that faces the town and neigbouring islands. Hvar has
celebrated its 140th anniversary of engagement in tourism, which ensures
unforgettable vacation in this town. Besides numerous coffee bars, restaurants
and taverns, your night life would be visiting some night club and having fun
until early morning hours. You can find accommodation in one of the luxurious
hotels, villas and private apartments and rooms, and in camps offering top-quality
service. Besides enjoying on the beach and in the sun the whole day, you will
be offered numerous possibilities for recreation: various sports sites, opened

otoci. We also recommend that you visit neighbouring places such as Jelsa, Star
Grad, Milna, Vrboska, Ivan Dolac, Sveta Nedjelja and Zavala. Each of these
charming places will contribute to make your vacation on the island Hvar really
